JAMMU: Duggar Manch welcomed the cabinet decision of Jammu and Kashmir Government for granting financial autonomy to the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
“It was a long pending demand which is fulfilled now by the present Mehbooba Mufti led government and this historical decision of government is hailed by the all artists and writers communities,” Mohan Singh, President Duggar Manch, told reporters here on Thursday.
“Academy is the only organisation in our State with autonomous status, working for the promotion of art, culture and languages so it needs more free hands to preserve our dying arts and culture,” he said.
So, while welcoming this historical decision of cabinet, Duggar Manch believes that Mehbooba Mufti led government will consider the other genuine demands of artists and writers communities like trifurcation of Academy on the role model of Sahitya Akademi, Sangeet Natak Akademi and Kala Akademi, he added.
