UDHAMPUR: State Government’s tall calms for having launched relief and rehabilitation drive in the State at war footing, is far from ground reality when it comes to heavily damaged Dubduba Basti, in Udhampur.
People of this colony alleged that nobody from administration visited the area to assess the loss or rehabilitate the people whose houses have been fully or partly damaged. They said that they have not been provided tents or temporary accommodation to stay. On the contrary they are forced to continue in the damaged houses where they feel quite unsafe. Panch Dubduba Bast Surmai Devi showing her helplessness said that though local administration and number of NGO workers visited their locality and also distributed relief material after flood and rain disaster, but despite lapse of more than twenty five days Govt. has not moved even a single step to rehabilitate those whose house are fully or partially damaged.
The Basti people resented the government’s Valley centric focus ignoring the people of other parts of the State in the matter of relief. The victims of Dubduba Basti have appealed to the government to take care of the sufferers of their colony and provide them adequate relief and shelter.
