JAMMU: Welcoming assurance of the Government for restoration of historic Mubarak Mandi complex and Duggar Pilgrimage centers Purmandal/ Utterbehni, the Dogra Sadar Sabha on Wednesday expressed gratitude towards LG for the significant decisions. Th Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and President DSS, along with other members, while addressing a press conference, thanked Lieutenant Governor for his visit to Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex for a first hand appraisal of the status of the ongoing work of its restoration and adaptive reuse. He expressed hope that, besides directing agencies concerned to gear up the pace of their work, he would also take stock of bare and dusty conditions in which priceless paintings, other artifacts’ and the valuable record had presently been kept in the complex. Charak further pointed out that there are over 700 rare paintings of Basohli School and other Pahari Schools of miniatures which are deteriorating the Dogra Art Museum in Mubarak Mandi. Besides comprising part of heritage, these have a high antique value with around 80 having been valued in crores each. He urged Lieutenant Governor that the Ministry of Culture may be asked to include experts in the field of restoration of paintings and other rare artifacts’ in team proposed to be deputed by them for providing expert advice to the concerned officials, who are already trying their best for their proper preservation and display.
Charak further thanked LG for visiting historic Duggar pilgrimage centers and some other tourist spots to take stock of their condition and for his assurance to people regarding required measures for improving road connectivity and providing proper facilities for pilgrims/tourists visiting these hubs of national significance.
