Drug worth Rs 20 crore seized in Attari

Attari : During cross border firing between Indian border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistani smugglers, four kilogram heroin having street value Rs 20 crore and one Chinese made automatic loaded pistol were seized at Indo-Pak border village Mahawa.

The incident occurred last night when BSF patrolling troops noticed a handful Pakistani smugglers moving on Indian sides and throwing contraband to the village field of Mahawa, a senior BSF official said today.

On being challenged, Pakistani smugglers fired gun shots on the BSF party, whereupon BSF retaliated and all the Pakistani intruders escaped back to their country.

A search operation was launched today, whereupon 4 kg of heroin and one loaded Chinese pistol were recovered from the spot.

The BSF official said that an Indian smuggler was also supposed to retrieve the consignment from Pakistani smugglers but he might have returned after seeing heavy firing on zero line.

BSF is trying to identify the Indian smuggler for whom consignment was smuggled from Pakistan to India so that he could be arrested.
