Anantnag: Police on Tuesday arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A Police party of Police Station Bijbehara at a checkpoint established at Waghama Bijbehara intercepted a vehicle (Swift) bearing registration number JK01X-3736 driven by Manzoor Ahmad Rah son of Abdul Rahman Rah resident of Waghama Bijbehara. During search, Police party recovered 18 Kgs of Poppy Straw and a Mixer Grander from his possession. He has been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
Terror hideout busted in Bandipora

Srinagar: Security forces on Tuesday busted a militant hideout in Bandipora district, police said.
The Indian Army, police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted a joint operation based on a specific input and busted a terrorist hideout in the orchards of the Ayathmullah general area in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, a police official said.
A UBGL/grenade launcher, seven UBGL grenades, 95 rounds of ammunition and a bag were seized from the hideout, the official said.
