SRINAGAR: J and K State Social Welfare Board and Institute of Hotel Management Raj Bagh in collaboration with Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir organized a drawing competition on Road Safety by physically challenged persons.
The programme was inaugurated by SDM Srinagar in presence of Secretary, J and K State Social Welfare Board, Principal Institute of Hotel Management, Deputy Director (News) Doordarshan, Deputy Controller Civil Defence and Deputy Chief Warden Civil Defence. More than 50 persons from across the Kashmir division, having different physical disabilities participated in the drawing competition.
The first and third prizes with cash award of Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 2,000 was won by Afreen Javaid and Mohammad Ashraf Bhat respectively both students of Deaf and Dumb School, Solina Ram Bagh. The second prize and cash reward of Rs. 3,000 was secured by Gurdeep Singh hailing from Iqbal Park, who got paralysis in both legs in a road accident, a few years ago and is presently working as a Psycho-social Counsellor with an NGO. Two consolation prizes of Rs. 1,000 each were given to Khursheed Ahmad Lone Shabir.
