‘Dr Nirmal directed DC Jammu to file report’

JAMMU: Responding to the people’s movement against alleged allotment of commercial sites along Thanger Nallah in violation of master plan in Channi Himmat Housing Colony, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh on Saturday directed Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ajeet Sahu to file a comprehensive report along with relevant land records without any delay.
Dr Singh, who inspected the site along with senior officers including DC Jammu Ajeet Sahu, VC JDA Mubarak Singh, BJP MLA Sat Sharma ordered for closure of ongoing reclamation work along the Thanger Nallah in Channi Himmat till further orders.
Dr Singh assured the prominent citizens of Channi Himmat Housing Colony that a thorough inquiry would be initiated to fix responsibility of erring officials of J and K Housing Board who were hand in glove with the land mafia.
The residents alleged that officials of the J and K Housing Board had violated all rules of procedure before allotting commercial sites on the reclaimed land of a water body passing through the Housing Colony.
Social activist, Raj Kumar, who is currently spearheading the movement against the alleged allotment of commercial sites through back door by the officials of J and K Housing Board along with senior citizen P.L Kohli, briefed Dr Nirmal Singh that there is deep rooted nexus between the land mafia and officials of J and K Housing Board who were brazenly looting the green strip in violation of the master plan.
DC Jammu, Ajeet Sahu after interacting with the local residents, also directed the revenue authorities to record the statements of local residents to initiate formal inquiry in the multi core land scam.
Large number of local residents present on the occasion also briefed Dr Nirmal Singh about irregularities committed by the officials of the J and K Housing Board in violation of the master plan and selling out the land allocated for public good for commercial ventures to private parties.
