Dr Jitendra gets info 24 hours prior to meeting at Doda

J&K Govt’s casual approach towards DDB meets

STATE TIMES NEWS
NEW DELHI: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Lok Sabha MP from Udhampur-Kathua-Doda constituency has taken strong exception to the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s casual approach in treating the District Development Board (DDB) meetings in a non-serious fashion and arbitrarily holding them just to fulfill the formality.
He said, there was no prior intimation about the DDB Meeting of district Doda to be held tomorrow (March 7, 2017) at 11:00 AM and neither his office in Delhi nor his constituency central office at 13-A, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu received any prior communication to this effect.
However, about 24 hours prior to the scheduled time and date of the meeting today, a letter of intimation was received at his South Block PMO office today and his staff promptly conveyed it to him while he was in Chandigarh to inaugurate the three-day Northeast Festival being organised by the Ministry of Development of Northeast Region (DoNER).
Expressing his inability to be physically present in the meeting at such a short notice, Dr Jitendra Singh also sought to draw the attention of State authorities to the standard guidelines according to which a prior intimation is to be served to each of the expectant participants sufficiently well in advance. Leave alone seeking the convenient date of the MP, he said, a date is invariably fixed unilaterally by J&K State authorities and then intimated at the eleventh hour.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, he has formulated a roster for himself whereby every week he tours one or the other part of his constituency in spite of his hard pressing touring in distant areas including Northeast and other parts of the country as well as a pressing schedule in Delhi.
Through his office staff, Dr Jitendra Singh has conveyed to the concerned authorities to take due care in future if, indeed, the intention is to make these meetings meaningful with a constructive outcome.
