DPS Jammu clinches first position in 4th J&K Science Congress

JAMMU: Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu lifted the overall winner’s trophy for its innovative project on Bio Plastics, in the Fourth J and K Women Science Congress organised by J and K State Science Technology and Innovation Council, DST, Jammu at Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar.
Kavinder Gupta, Speaker, Legislative Assembly who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, gave away the prizes to the
winners.
During the congress which lasted for three days, first two days were devoted to exhibitions by college & school students, open presentations, symposiums and guest lectures.
The most innovative and cost effective idea put forth by DPS Jammu on producing bio plastics with the help of banana peels, won much applause from all and was declared first among all teams from other colleges and schools of the State.
The school team was represented by Arpita Magotra, Sarthak Aggarwal, Maheep Jain and Jaskirat Singh of class IX-D. They were guided in this project by Dr. Gurmeet Kour and Manika Verma, senior science faculty of the school.
Congratulating the students and the faculty, Ruchi Chabra, Principal DPS Jammu said that students needed to delve more into contemporary environmental and developmental issues and come up with viable eco friendly ideas.
Ajatshatru Singh, President RCT and MLC, Ritu Singh, PVC DPS Jammu and S.S Sodhi, Director DPS Jammu also appreciated the young DPS scientists and wished them for their bright future.
