JAMMU: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) on Wednesday held a protest at Nagrota against JPDCL regarding electricity bills and smart meters.
The members of District committee DPAP assembled at Kol Kandoli Chowk under the leadership of Gourav Chopra, Ashok Bhagat, Shammi Slathia, Anil Kohli and Mahinder Sharma and raised slogans against JPDCL/PDD.
Gourav Chopra and Ashok Bhagat lambasted PDD for issuance of hefty bills to the people of J&K UT.
Gourav Chopra said that J&K administration is harassing the people by issuing incorrect and hefty bills and pushing the people in controversial prepaid electricity system.
The people of JK UT are already facing problems and now the Govt have also stopped the old age, widow and handicapped pensions which is great injustice with poor people of J&K UT. He also raised the questions on Govt about the loss of eight medical seats of GMC which are snatched by National Medical Council. He said that people who are responsible for this scandal should be behind bars.
Mahinder Sharma and Shammi Slathia also raised questions on wrong policy of PDD/JPDCL.
They said that UT Administration doesn’t want to understand problems of people. People are protesting but nobody bothering to listen the genuine grievances of electricity consumers, they said. Later, the protesters handed over a memorandum to Tehsildar, Nagrota for LG to revoke the order regarding prepaid electricity system and immediately stop injustice and to give relief to the J&K UT people. The protest was organised by District Committee Urban and Jammu Rural. Others who take part in the protest were Jagdish Raj, Suram Singh and Sonia Kumari.
