Dorjey asks JAKFED to provide quality goods, services

JAMMU: Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Chering Dorjay on Thursday asked Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (JAKFED) to improve and modernise their services to compete with its counterparts in the private sector.
The minister was speaking at a function organized by the JAKFED as part of the celebrations of 63rd All India Cooperative Week 2016 here.
The minister stressed on quality improvement of goods and services being provided through the Cooperative body. He asked the organization to expand its reach to the remotest areas to benefit maximum number of rural populace. He also stressed on achieving profit targets by all wings of the organisation.
Minister of State for Forest, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Cooperatives and Fisheries Mir Zahoor Ahmad, Registrar, Cooperative Societies Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Managing Director, JAKFED Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Addl. Registrar, Cooperative Societies, J&K Anjana Tickoo, Chairman J&K Cooperative Union Rajesh Sharma and other functionaries of the Corporation were present in the meeting.
The minister called for meeting the targets fixed for the current year in full. He also appreciated JAKFED for providing cement to the Ladakh area and stressed upon it to make further efforts to provide other commodities to the people of the State.
The minister reiterated the commitment of the government to resolve and address the issues of the Cooperative societies. He also apprised them about the keen interest expressed by Chief Minister for reviving and promoting the Cooperative Movement during a recent meeting held in this regard.
Earlier while welcoming the guests, the Managing Director, JAKFED gave a resume of achievements during the last three years. He informed said the organization has opened new branch office at Leh and recorded huge increase in the sale of Cement and Key construction material and Bitumen. He said over these years JAKFED has been paying salaries to its employees regularly and also implemented 6th Pay Commission.
