Dear Editor,
The highly disciplined armed forces have been approaching the relevant quarters time and again for the removal of anomalies in pay structure and dilution in their position and status in every pay commission report. The President of India, who is the supreme commander of the armed forces, should intervene to ensure that the forces under his command keep their morale. A demoralised force cannot deliver its best. Military personnel work under the highest risk of life. For them, the motto is ‘Nation first, self later’. There is turmoil all around us. We need a proficient and contented military.
