SAMBA: Hitting out at BJP for allegedly misleading the people in Jammu and Kashmir during ongoing DDC elections, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today expressed surprise over the ignorance of BJP and its leadership about the ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir.
“BJP has double standards as they attempt to mislead people by narrating false tales. This was stated by former Minister while addressing public gathering in favour of Congress DDC candidate Parshotam Lal from Samba-B at Pangdhour and Banglard.
Prominent among those present on the occasion include Sanjeev Sharma, Vinod Mishra, Subash Bhagat, Komer Singh, Chman Lal, Balkar Singh, Foja Singh, Sansar Singh, Subash Chander, Santokh Chand, Rikhi Ram, Parladh Singh, Waryam Singh beside others.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said Congress is not doing politics on religion, region or development like BJP. “We do not create wedge between Hindus and Muslims, Kashmiri-Jammuvi, and do not do politics on the issues of development and public good,” he said.
Exuding confidence that Congress will leave an indelible mark in the District Development Council elections, former Minister said that a stable political structure is imperative for meeting challenges and steering J&K to peace, progress and development.
“The Congress has a credible record of public service and ushering J&K to unprecedented development during different spells of governance in the past over four decades”, he said.
He said the people are sagacious enough to choose their representatives to the grassroot level democratic institutions. This will enable them to serve the people and undoing wrongs committed due to lack of representative governance, he said, adding that the Jammu region has suffered the most as the balloon of the BJP’s promises burst in recent years. Bhalla said the people had pinned many hopes with the BJP but their betrayal has left them devastated. He said personal agenda of the BJP team in the Government prevailed over public interest, as a result of which Jammu region suffered adversely on the front of development, implementation of welfare schemes and jobs to youth.
He said the people of Jammu are determined to teach a lesson to those who betrayed their 2014 mandate. He slammed the BJP for non-fulfillment of promises over the years. He exhorted party workers to remain steadfast in their mission of serving the people, saying the party has surmounted turbulent winds with fortitude and there is no reason why it will not emerge as a force to reckon with.
