JAMMU: Dogra Front and Shiv Sena on Thursday staged protest against the Article 35A as it has enslaved the woman of the State as well as financial enslavement.
Led by President Dogra Front, Ashok Gupta, the activists assembled at Rani Park area and raised slogans against the government.
Gupta demanded immediate revocation of Article 35A. “Article 35A is unconstitutional and illegal. It has been extended to the State by the virtue of Presidential Order and has not been passed by the Parliament, which is a necessary formality,” he said.
Gupta stated that the Shiv Sena and Dogra Front are opposed to Article 35A as it bars non-J and K State Subjects to settle and buy property in J and K. We are unanimous that the only way to permanently end the Kashmir dispute is to alter its demography by settling people from outside the State, with the right to acquire land and property and vote in the Assembly elections, he added.
“Article 35A should be removed and the women should be provided with the equal rights so that we can restore sense of balance with the rest of the country,” he stated.
The party workers who were present at the time of protest include Lal Singh, Bantu, Gurdass, Krishan, Sukhdev, Kesaro, Nikku, Ram Paul, Pradhanu and Abhishek.
