Dogra College of Education celebrates 20th Annual Day


JAMMU: Dogra College of Education, celebrated its 20th Annual Day function on Thursday in the college premises with great pomp and show.
The proceedings of the programme began with lighting of traditional lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana and the presentation of various cultural items.
Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. Shefali Sharma, Vice Principal Dogra College of Education which was followed by presentation of Annual Report by Prof. B.D Damral, Director-cum-Principal, Dogra College of Education.
Former Minister of Higher Education and Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust, Th. Gulchain Singh Charak presided over the function. In his presidential remarks, he stressed upon the role of productive teachers in shaping the personality of the young students in the desired directions.
He also emphasised upon the need and importance of teacher education to shape the future destiny of the nation.
In addition to the achievements of students of Dogra College of Education in academics, he also appreciated the students for their participation in the various events of sports and cultural programmes.
Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh was the Guest of Honour who stressed upon the role of teacher education institutions during the present times. He advised the students to develop the necessary skills and aptitude during their training period so that they can serve the cause of school education in the best way.
An attractive and colourful cultural programme including Fusion Dance (Dogri, Ladakhi, Kashmiri, Gojri, Rajasthani), Qawali, Punjabi Folk Dance (Gidda) and group song, captivating the audience, was presented by the students.
Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Member Trustee, (DET), Kr. Gambhir Dev Singh Charak Prof. Damral, Prof. N.R Sharma, Head, Deptt. of Education, Central University of Jammu, Prof. M.L Parwana, Former Principal, Govt. College of Education, Jammu Dr. Samaya Tabusum, Principal Dogra Law College, Dr. Shivani Singh, Principal, Dogra Degree College, Bela Thakur, Academic Coordinator, Dogra College of Education and the reputed dignitaries of the locality were also present to grace the occasion.
Prizes and mementos were also distributed among the outstanding students of the session. The ninth issue of the Annual College Magazine “SHIKSHAK” was also released on the occasion.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Bela Thakur, Senior Lecturer of the College.
