DM orders for depositing of licensed weapons, police creates special cells

KISHTWAR: Keeping in view of upcoming I-Day celebrations and prevailing situation amid Kashmir unrest , District Magistrate Kishtwar issued order with regard to deposition of all the licensed weapons on or before 15th of August 2016.
According to reports, DC Kishtwar who is also having the power of District Magistrate Kishtwar, issued order on 10-08-2016, directing SSP Kishtwar and concern Station House Officers/In Charge Police Post of Kishtwar District to ensure that all the licensed weapon holders falling within their jurisdiction will deposit their licensed weapons at nearest police stations after availing proper receipt against the deposited weapons.
The order from DM Kishtwar comes in wake of aftermath of police and intelligence agencies report warning of possible threat of display of licensed weapons or use of such weapons to destabilize peace and tranquility in the area at the time when Kashmir Division is already facing a crises like situation.
When contacted a senior police officer confirms that “District Magistrate Kishtwar has issued the order directing all the licensed weapon holders to deposit the weapons at police station.
“After DM Kishtwar’s order and directions to police, a special cells has been created at police stations wherein the licensed weapon holders will deposit their weapons,” Officer added.
