DLSA organises awareness programme on women rights & violence against them

JAMMU: District Legal Services Authority Jammu under the guidance of Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge) Jammu Sanjay Parihar and under the supervision of Secretary District Legal Services Authority Jammu Smriti Sharma organised an awareness program on Women Rights and Violence against women on Friday at Govt. College for Women, Parade Ground Jammu.
Resource persons for the program were DLSA Jammu Panel Lawyer Adv. Shahla Rafiqi and Adv. Mamta Kumari along with PLVs Bhajan Singh and Niazi Tahira. Resource persons addressing the gathering highlighted the main objectives of NALSA Schemes for women. They told the gathering that there are Acts to provide for more effective protection of the rights of women guaranteed under the Constitution who are victims of violence of any kind occurring within the family and formatters connected therewith or incidental thereto. They emphasized the importance of women knowing their legal rights and exhorted them to get legal assistance when required. They also disseminated information on free legal aid services for women. Resource persons urged gathering to take advantage of the program and seek legal assistance if they face any kind of injustice. They also informed gathering to spread information and knowledge to their respective societies so that every needy women can be served justice.
Similar awareness programs were also organised at TLSC Bishnah, Akhnoor and RS Pura.
