DLSA, Forest Deptt start plantation drive under ‘Green J&K Campaign’

BHADARWAH: Joining the initiative to increase the green cover of rapidly depleting forests, District Legal Service Authority (DSLA) Bhadarwah in collaboration with Forest Division Bhadarwah started week long plantation drive under ‘Green J&K Campaign’ at Bhadarwah. To promote and encourage plantation in the backdrop of decreasing forest cover, DSLA Bhadarwah and Forest Department started plantation drive from Ageli-Basti area of Puneja Block in Additional District Bhadarwah.
The plantation drive, which was primarily aimed at to increase the green cover, was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge Bhadarwah, Ashok Kumar Shavan in presence of Secretary District Legal Services Authority Bhadarwah Susheel Singh and DFO Bhadarwah Chander Shekhar.
The ambitious drive was launched by Ashok Kumar Shavan by planting cedar saplings in the Forest Complex at Ageli-Basti area, in which saplings of Cedar was planted.
Speaking On the occasion, Principal District and Sessions Judge Bhadarwah Ashok Kumar Shavan, while emphasizing on the importance of plantation said that on the directions of higher authorities, we started week long plantation drive in Bhadarwah to contribute in increasing the green cover.
“Everybody needs to be made aware of the challenges of future forest management,” Shavan added.
RO Neeru Range Shafqat Khakaan Malik, Retainer Lawyer Advocate Mohd Majid Malik and Block Officer Nadeem Nazir Mattoo were also present on the occasion.
