JAMMU: With a view to discuss the water supply scenario in Jammu province and to assess the situation arisen due to the ongoing strike of the PHE daily wagers, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu chaired a high level meeting of officers here on Wednesday.
Laying stress on the directions of High Court in this regard, the Divisional Commissioner directed the PHE authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure restoration and maintenance of regular water supply to the people. He said that strict administrative action under ESMA shall be initiated against the regular employees of PHE Department who are not performing their official duties and that period shall be considered as dias-non period in their service records.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer PHE was directed to make alternate arrangements and ensure water supply through water tankers. He was also asked to arrange additional water tankers from other departments which could be utilised for maintaining water supply to tide over the crisis.
He also directed the police authorities to ensure full protection to those employees who are performing their duties round the clock for restoring water supply. He also appealed the striking employees to resume their duties so that public does not suffer due to erratic supply of water.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, VC, Jammu Development Authority, Sushma Chouhan, Commissioner JMC, Kiran Wattal, Additional Commissioner Jammu, Rehana Batool, SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand, Chief Engineer PHE, Sushil Aima, DFO Jammu, besides other senior officers also attended the meeting.
