Bandipora: The District Wushu Championship for Bandipora was officially inaugurated on Sunday at Salvatore International School, Shilvat Bandipora. The event is organized under the aegis of the Wushu Association of J&K and is proudly sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
This two-day championship has drawn participation from approximately 270 boys and girls representing various institutions and clubs within the district. As a sport prioritized by the Government of India, Wushu has enjoyed considerable success in recent years. The top performers from this district championship will advance to compete in the J&K UT level competition. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, who served as the chief guest. He was joined by SDPO and SDM Sumbal, Faisal Ali Dar Padmashree awardee, who were honored guests at the event. The guests spoke on the significance of Wushu, highlighting its positive impact on the youth and its potential to guide them towards personal and professional growth.
The decision to host this championship outside the district headquarters aims to broaden engagement and provide equal opportunities for youth from different areas within Bandipora. The broader objective is to address social issues by offering constructive activities and creating pathways for future generations.
