District Srinagar Volleyball Championship commences

SRINAGAR: All Stars Volleyball Club won the opening match of the District Srinagar Volleyball Championship, organized by District Srinagar Volleyball association under the aegis of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir at Balhama Volleyball Turf, here on Saturday.
The Championship, in which 12 teams in the boys section are participating, was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof Khurshid, HOD Geography. In his speech, he emphasised on the importance of sports nowadays. He further praised the efforts of the district volleyball association for hosting such event in Balhama. Other dignitaries present were Zahid Manzoor, Event Incharge Srinagar volleyball Association, Anas Younis Head of selection and scouting committee Srinagar Volleyball Association, Irfan Ali Organising Secretary of the event. Eight matches were played on opening day.
The results: All Stars Volleyball Club beat Block & Bleed Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-09, 25-13); Shining Star Volleyball Club beat Zewan Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-17, 26-24); Safron Interior Volleyball Club beat Sugar & Spike Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-19, 25-23); Khansaar Volleyball Club beat Dara Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-10, 25-16); Khonmoh Volleyball Club beat Shining Star Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-07, 25-13); Manchowa Volleyball Club beat Khansaar Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-10, 25-15); Balhama Volleyball Club beat All Stars Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-16, 25-13); Tailbal Spartan’s beat Safron Interior Volleyball Club by walkover, because the Safron Interior Volleyball was not present at the time of match.
