KATHUA: To promote sports culture and involve more and more youth with sports activities at village level, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Kathua is going to organize two-day District Sports Tournament on theme ‘No Drugs – No Rash Driving’ at Government High School, Guhra Mundian on 14th and 15th February 2017.
According to District Youth Coordinator Som Datt Zard, volleyball, kabaddi, long jump, 100 mtr and 400 mtr race competitions shall be organized during the tournament.
Som Datt asked interesting team, sports club from Kathua District to participate in said sports events for which free of cost registration shall be done.
“Rs. 1,500 and Rs. 1,000 cash prizes shall be awarded to the winner and runner up of volleyball and kabaddi teams respectively and Rs. 500, Rs 300 and Rs 200 for athletic events,” he said. He further said that Ashok Parihar, Senior Superintendent of Police shall be Chief Guest in prize distribution function to be held on on 15th February at 3:30 PM. Sohan Lal, Sub Divisional Magistrate Hiranagar shall inaugurate the tournament, he added.
