District Police organises volleyball tournament

R S PURA: To provide a platform to the youths of the area to show their talents as well as sensitise them against the evil effects of the drugs and other criminal activities, District Police Jammu organised Volleyball Tournament under Civic Action Programme (CAP) Rehal Stadium Bishnah, here on Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Dr. Sunil Gupta was the Chief Guest who inaugurated the tournament.
“Under this initiative, District Police Jammu is making all out efforts to channelise the energies of youths to positive directions and create awareness about the drug menace to save them falling prey to the hands of the drug paddlers,” SSP said.
He added that J and K Police in collaboration with local sports clubs, sports enthusiasts and associations is organising these tournaments with a clear message to society that police is committed to have drug free society and look forward for their support and active cooperation of likeminded social organization to fight this menace which is eating up very vital of our society particularly youths.
Today’s inaugural match played between Ala Volleyball Club and R S Pura Volleyball Club was won by former.
A total of eight teams of Sub-Division R S Pura are participating in the tournament. The winning teams will be awarded with cash prize Rs. 10,000 and Trophy.
Besides SP Hqrs Jammu R.C Kotwal, SDPO R S Pura, Surinder Choudhary, SHO Bishnah/Arnia and other officers of Sub-division R S Pura including prominent citizens Satish Bharti, social worker and BJP Mandal President, Retd. Master Puran Chand, Retd. SI Kuldeep Khajuria, Vijay Kumar, Ramesh Lal, Ghan Sham Pandit, Kuldeep Raj, Naresh Kumar and Davinder Kumar were present on the occasion.
