UDHAMPUR: Organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports Udhampur, District Level Inter-Zonal Badminton for under-14 and 17 (boys and girls) and Inter-School Table Tennis District tournament for under-14 and 17 boys got underway at Mini Stadium, here on Monday.
The tournament in which 79 participant including 42 boys and 37 girls drawn from 14 institutions of seven zones participated is being held under the patronage of Navin Aggarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports, J and K and the supervision of Sunil Singh Sambyal, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur.
Sunil Singh Sambyal was the Chief Guest in the badminton tournament whereas Munish Gulati, Principal Happy Model Higher Secondary School Udhampur was Guest of Honour.
The matches were officiated by Ajit Singh, Romesh Chander, Somdev Khajuria, Sandeep Kour, Kanchan Bala, Rakesh Sawhney, Manik Nargotra, Sunil Kumar Ved Parkash and Jyoti Devi.
Principal KC Gurukul Public School Jakhar, Sagar Banerji distributed the prizes among the winner and runner up teams. Des Raj, Physical Education Master presented vote of thanks.
Results: GIRLS: Badminton under-14: Zone Uhampur beat Zone Jib
BOYS: Table Tennis Under-17: Anish (National Academy) beat Ajay (Vivek Niketan). Under-14: Mahi (National Academy) trounced Nikhil Balotra (Happy Model HSS Udhampur).
