District administration takes extensive rescue, relief measures


UDHAMPUR: The District Development Commissioner , Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal convened a press conference at Deputy Commissioner Office complex , Udhampur here on Friday and informed that extensive relief operation and restoration works have been going on in whole district. She further informed that in Udhampur District, 27 people have died, 504 fully damaged houses, 996 partially damaged houses, 122 cattle sheds have collapsed and 79 cattles have died due to floods.
She said that out of 27 confirmed death cases in the district, 20 death cases will be given ex gratia relief immediately today itself.
Extending sympathies with bereaved families, the DDC personally shared the grief of the affected families. Mudgal said all efforts are being made by the administration to save the lives and the property of the people, particularly in those areas which have been affected badly.
The district administration ensured that emergency supplies such as tents, blankets and ration were dispatched and distributed among the victims of the natural calamity.
The DDC assured that the district administration has fully geared up men and machinery to face any eventuality. The DDC also appealed to the NGOs and people of the Udhampur District to come forward to help the flood affected victims.

The concerned Patwaris of Revenue Department were directed to prepare cases of loss of lives and damaged houses due to the landslide/ flash floods in the area so that compensation could be paid to the affected families soon.
A team of NDRF and SDRF along with equipment has already been deputed on the spot for the help of aggrieved people, Mudgal further added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Sharma, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, SDM Nobra, Ravindra Kumar were also present in the conference.
