UDHAMPUR: The Director Handicrafts, J and K , Tariq Ahmed Ganai along with Joint Director Handicrafts, Jammu Manisha Sarin visited the different training centres of the district.
The director visited Advance Phoolkari Training Centre Mand, Nagalian and Carpet Weaving Training Centre, Magyote. Further they visited Elementary Phoolkari Training Centre at Omara and Calico Printing Training Centre at Seer, Jaganoo.
While interacting with the trainees of different centres, director made trainees aware of the various schemes like Artisan Credit Card (ACC) and Micro Credit Plan (MCP) through which the artisans can avail loan facility upto Rs 1 lakh with interest subsidy of 10 per cent from the department. Director also emphasised trainees to start their own units, as Self – Employment is the solution to the growing problem of unemployment. He even visited the units of artisans who have availed loan under ACC scheme.
While interacting with trainees of Carpet Weaving Centre, Magyote wherein for the first time male trainees have also been enrolled by the department. He stressed and asked male members to come forward and learn the craft and avail the facilities under different schemes. He appreciated the district staff for such an initiative and asked for replicating the same in more centres. He even asked the district office to forward a proposal for providing training to the Assistant Handicrafts Training Officers (AHTO) and instructors of the district from Craft Development Institute of the State.
Assistant Director Handicraft, Vishavjeet Singh Supervisors, Field Staff of the Department were present during the visit.
