JAMMU: J&K Game Changers, JK Warriors and Horizon Stars registered wins in the inaugural matches of the 2nd Masters Cricket Championship, organized jointly by Range Police Headquarters Jammu and Jammu & Kashmir Veterans Cricket Association at MA Stadium, here on Thursday.
In the opening match, J&K Game Changers defeated JK ACB Legends by seven wickets.
Batting first, JK ACB Legends scored 64 runs for the loss of ten wickets in 14.4 overs with Arif scored 21 runs and Abdul Waheed 18 runs. From bowling side, Peter took three wickets, Avinash and Bansi grabbed two wickets each and Hardeep claimed one wicket. In reply, J&K Game Changers scored 65 runs for loss of three wickets in 11.1 overs. Lakhvinder Singh with (23), Hardeep (22) and Narinder (13) runs were the main scorers. Sanjeev of ACB took two wickets while Davinder scalped one. Peter was declared Man of the Match.
In another match, JK Warriors defeated Horizon Stars by one wicket. Batting first, Horizon Stars scored 95 runs for the loss of ten wickets in 20 overs. Rajesh Gill was the top scorer with 32 runs while Raman Dutta and Shamsher made 28 and 10 runs respectively. From bowling side, Dhaleep grabbed four wickets, Sandeep Singh took three whereas Vicky, Ravi and Kingji claimed one wicket each. In reply, JK Warriors chased the target in 16.5 overs for losing nine wickets. Sonu Malhotra was the top scorer with scored 24 runs while Deepak made 18 runs and RK Bhat added 10 runs to the total. From bowling Side, Hilal took four wickets, Shamsher claimed two and Rajesh Gill, Haseeb ur Rehman and Raman grabbed one wicket each. Dhaleep was declared Man of the Match.
In last match of the day, Horizon Stars defeated JK Game Changers by seven wickets.
Batting first, JK Game Changer scored 112 runs in 18 overs. Hardeep (29), Sohal Lal (22) and Narinder (19) runs were the main scorers. From bowling side, Pardeep Bali grabbed four wickets while Hilal and Shamsher took one wicket each.
In reply, Horizon Stars chased the target in 17 overs for the loss of three wickets. Pardeep Bali was the top scorer with 30 runs while Rajesh Gill made 23 and Hilal Rather scored 21 runs. Pardeep Bali declared Man of the Match.
Today’s matches were officiated by Vijay Raina, Ashok Kumar and Amit Gill.
RP Singh conducted the proceedings of the inauguration ceremony.
Earlier, the Championship was declared open by the chief guest, Shakti Pathak, Deputy Inspector General of Police JKS Range in presence of DIG Railway Jammu Haseeb Ur Rehman, RK Bhat SSP, Abdul Waheed Shah SSP, Rashid Bhat SSP, Ashish Singh MD Horizon Group of Companies, Rajesh Gill former Ranji Player & Coordinator of the event, Amir Almansoor CPO, and DySP Sagar Singh.
The Championship is being organized under the supervision of DIG Jammu, DIG Railway Jammu, Arun Gupta President JK VCA and Rajesh Gill.
DIG Jammu lauded the efforts of executive members and coordinators of the Championship in conducting this mega event at Jammu by involving passionate cricketers, including the players from J&K, Punjab, Delhi & M.P. with the sole aim to promote sports culture and to inspire youths in sports so that the stay away from drugs and other allied illegal activities.
