Jammu: Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu was given warm send off at Range Police Headquarters on his superannuation here in a function on Saturday.
Beig was appointed as Dy. Superintendent of Police after qualifying State Public Service Exam in the year 1984. During his 31 years service in the J and K Police he has served in various capacities in the Police Department. The officer throughout his service career has remained highly competent and professional police officer. The officer during his service has been awarded DGP’s Commendation Medal, Sher-e-Kashmir Medal for Meritorious Services, President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Services, President Police Medal for Gallantry, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services from time to time.
During his two years tenure as DIG Jammu, the officer launched various drives/awareness programmes against social evils and drug addiction for he organized number of anti-drug rallies under Civic Action programme. Besides this various sports events were organized into to keep the young general away from the drug evils and keep them mentally and physically fit.
