SRINAGAR: Hailing the stand taken by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during the course of leading the All-Party Delegation to Kashmir Valley, Prof. Saifuddin Soz, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister on Tuesday said that Singh has adopted a good narrative which might help promote conducive atmosphere for a decisive dialogue.
However, he said that it is unfortunate that neither the Government of India nor the J and K Government invited the Hurriyat to attend Parliamentary Delegation led by Home Minister of India.
“Rajnath Singh’s lament that the Hurriyat leadership’s refusal to meet a section of the Parliamentary Delegation constituted negation of Kashmiriyat, may be partially true, but one thing must be clearly understood that anger in the hearts and minds of Kashmiris is so enormous that the Hurriyat, perhaps, wanted to represent that anger adequately. Othe-rwise, these leaders are known to be courteous in their personal behaviour”, he said adding that perhaps, Home Minister can sensitise PM Narendra Modi’s mind to show political acumen to devise a proper mechanism to open the door for an unconditional dialogue.
“The dialogue will take place, for, there is no other way to resolve the current crisis”, he asserted.
“One silver lining for Modi is clearly visible on the horizon that around this time, the Congress Party and all other segments of the National Opposition seem to be dead-set to be part of the solution and not part of the problem,” he maintained.
