JAMMU: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat on Monday said that the District Hospital Samba is fully functional and providing the healthcare facilities as per its status.
The additional infrastructural facilities to the level of a district hospital have made available at the said hospital at an estimated cost of Rs.11.83 crore. The bed capacity has been increased from 30 to 100 and necessary machinery and equipments have also been installed as per the status of District Hospital, he added.
Replying to a Question by Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal in the Legislative Assembly, the minister said that a proposal for creation of 15 additional posts of Specialists/Doctors and 33 paramedics and other allied staff involving financial implication of Rs. 128.75 lakh has been submitted to the Finance Department for concurrence.
As regards Critical Care Ambulance for District Hospital Samba, the minister said that 20 such Ambulances are being procured by the department through J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited soon, and deployment of one Critical Care Ambulance at District Hospital Samba is under consideration of the department.
On the question of opening of new health Sub-Centers in the district, the Minister said that presently there was no such proposal under the consideration of the department.
Rajiv Jasrotia, Javid Hussain Baig, Devinder Singh Rana, Vikar Rasool, Sheikh Abdul Jabbar and Aijaz Ahmed Mir asked the supplimentaries to the main question relating to their areas and highlighted the dearth of staff and health infrastructure.
