SRINAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP), Dr S.P Vaid is going to inaugurate Dial 100 Project in summer capital of J and K. In an attempt to reach out to the citizens and improve coordination, the J and K Police is utilising the services of Dial 100 Project to strengthen police-public relations. These efforts are to ensure that the police reaches the crime scene within shortest possible time.
Trained police personnel including women representatives are stationed at the Dial 100 call centre in PCR Kashmir to tackle domestic violence and eve teasing complaints. The system shall inform a strategically placed Dial 100 Response Vehicle available at nearest point to react to the call. All these vehicles have been equipped with GPS and other modern equipment to monitor their locations in real time. The project’s headquarter is at PCR Kashmir where special arrangements are being made for vehicles and their management. Furthermore, all Dial 100 vehicles shall also have first aid kits to provide immediate relief to accident victims.
Dial 100 system would be implemented based on Police Emergency Management System (PEMS). The call centre of Dial 100 System would work round the clock. Under this project, in case of emergency, a person can communicate with the Dial 100 call centre telephonically and in turn will be provided immediate relief and help within shortest possible time which may extend to seven minutes at maximum.
