RAMBAN: DGP, Dr S.P Vaid on Monday sought people’s cooperation in eradicating drug menace and maintain communal harmony.
While addressing civil society and police personnel here, Vaid said that all the civil society groups such as doctors, teachers, lawyers and students have to continue their help in eradicating the menace of drugs from the State. He impressed upon the police personnel to make dossiers of the drug peddlers and get them booked under Public Safety Act (PSA). He assured the civil society members that suitable rewards will be given to the people who inform the police regarding the drug peddling in their areas and their names will be kept confidential.
Hailing efforts of SPOs and police personnel who have worked for making erstwhile Doda District terrorism free, DGP directed officers of Jammu Zone to review the cases of SPOs for absorption and promised that the cases will be considered on priority at PHQ level.
Dr Vaid said that mechanism have been laid for the transparency in recruitment, transfers, procurement and payments by adopting Transparent Recruitment Process (TRP), transfer policy, e-tendering and e-payments. He said that every case is decided on merits and initiatives are taken to ensure transparency in all administrative matters.
Interacting with the civil society members, DGP assured them that police will provide all possible help in redressing the grievances of their respective areas of the people. He thanked the people of Ramban for maintaining communal harmony in the district.
Later, Vaid inaugurated seven newly constructed administrative and residential blocks for the police personnel at Parnote, Ramban.
IGP Jammu Dr S.D Singh Jamwal and DIG Doda Kistwar Ramban range, Basant Rath also accompanied the DGP.
In his welcome address, SSP Ramban, Mohan Lal highlighted the work and achievements of his district on different fronts. The DGP met the Quick Response Team (QRT) volunteers engaged for the assistance of accident victims on Srinagar- Jammu National Highway. Hailing their efforts and this initiative of the Ramban Police, the DGP announced the reward of Rs 30,000 for the volunteers.
