JAMMU: 65th All India Police Hockey Championship-2016 is being held at Jammu from 10th December. Being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police the Championship would last for seven days and conclude on 18th December, 2016.
Arrangements for the Championship were reviewed at a senior police officers meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar.
Rajendra disclosed that more than 28 national teams representing different States and Central Police Organizations of the country would be participating in the championship which would be played at different venues in Jammu city viz KK Hakku Stadium, Gulshan Ground, DPL and Jammu University. The championship is played under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board, he added.
DGP stressed upon the organizers to work in close coordination with the committees already constituted to make the championship a success. He also emphasised to put the JKP team, participating in the championship, on constant practice so that they could excel and fetch glory to the department. He said that the event should be given proper publicity inviting the sports lovers to witness the competitions between national level teams.
Among others, the meeting was also attended by Additional Directors General of Police, V.K Singh and L Mohanti, IsGP, Yoginder Koul, Muneer Ahmad Khan and Danesh Rana, DIGP, Alok Kumar and other police officers.
