Attends inauguration of South Kashmir’s first-ever Women Police Station

JAMMU: The Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Friday laid foundation stone for construction works at Commando Training Centre (CTC) and Indian Reserve Police (IRP) 23rd Battalion Headquarters at Lethpora in Awantipora district. He later also visited Anantang and Pulwama districts of South Kashmir. Accompanied by ADGP Armed/IRP J&K SJM Geelani, ADGP (Hqrs) PHQ, M K Sinha, ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, DIG AP/IR Kashmir Shahid Mehraj, AIG Building PHQ Javid Iqbal Matoo and AIG Communication Manoj Pandith, the DGP was received by CO IRP 23rd Bn Atul Sharma, SSP Awantipora Mohd Yousuf, Principal CTC Lethpora Tanveer Jeelani, CO 185 CRPF Bn A K Bharti and Executive Engineer PCD Kamal Kishore. He was also presented guard of honour at CTC Lethpora as well as at 23rd IRP Bn Hqrs.
After laying the foundations at Lethpora, the DGP inspected various under-construction works like Parade ground, administration blocks, hostel, quarter guards, hospital, USQ/LSQ blocks, conference hall, computer labs etc. He directed for adaptation of drawings as per needs and also suggested amendments and changes for making CTC a centre of excellence. The DGP directed for finishing construction and all allied work within stipulated times besides providing State of art facilities. He also directed for providing best residential facilities to the personnel. The DGP then visited Anantnag where in his presence the first-ever women police station for South Kashmir was inaugurated. The Police Station was inaugurated by Principal Women Degree College Anantang Dr Nuzhat and other womenfolk, representing different fields. After inaugural function of Women Police Station, the DGP while speaking to the media said, “The purpose behind opening women police stations across UTs is to provide a better environment to women. Crime against women has been taken seriously and to bring down any type of crime against women, the Women Police Stations have been opened where the victims of crime will be conducted with by women officers/officials.”
