DGP calls on Dr Jitendra

NEW DELHI: Recently appointed Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, S.P Vaid, currently on his first visit to the Union Capital after taking over the new assignment, called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh here.
Dr Jitendra congratulated Vaid on taking over as Director General of Police and expressed happiness over the fact that Vaid was a directly recruited Indian Police Service (IPS)
cadre officer and also a son of the soil, who had been appointed to this crucial assignment. He expressed the hope that Vaid’s experience and expertise will be put to best use.
The State of Jammu and Kashmir has been reeling in the aftermath of over two decades of militancy with periodic upsurges, observed Dr Jitendra and said, the police forces headed by a professional leadership with a local connect can certainly prove more capable of achieving a breakthrough in such a situation.
He appreciated the manner in which the different wings of security forces have been working in coordination in the State and hoped that this coordination will become even more cohesive and fruitful in the times to come.
Describing the Indian forces as among the best in the world, Dr Jitendra said, the nation is proud of our security personnel and is eternally indebted to their sacrifices and service during the most difficult times in J and K.
Vaid offered some valuable inputs about the current situation in the State, particularly in Kashmir Valley. He also referred to some of the achievements of the police forces in anti-militancy operations and reiterated the commitment of the entire cadre to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of J&K as well as that of the republic of India.
