JAMMU: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena under the leadership of President, Ashok Gupta held a protest by carrying a motorbike on their shoulders against the price hike in petro products.”The steep rise in the price of petrol and diesel is not entirely linked with the hike in the price of crude oil as the tax imposed by the State Government leads to the massive hike in the high prices of other commodities,” Ashok Gupta, State Pres-ident of the Party, said. Gupta stated that a recent hike by State tax of 4 per cent on petrol and diesel by the J and K Government has pushed the prices of the essential commodities soaring. He further stated that State legislators demanded hike in their salary from Rs 80,000 to Rs 2,40,000 and further demanding free laptops and tablets which just shows their insensitivity towards the people as the hike in the price of petrol and diesel will burden the pockets of common man.
Gupta appealed to the Prime Minister that the famed schemes of the government like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and to lower the death rate of the farmers will only be successful if the taxes are reduced. Bantu, Pra-dhan, Golu, Dhanatar, Rag-huveer, Shubam, Arun, Bua Ditta, Babloo, Kulwant and Abhishek were also present in the protest.
