DFCO stops sale, usage of two sub-standard drugs

JAMMU: Drugs and Food Control Organisations (DFCO) on Monday stopped the sale of two drugs as the samples of these drugs lifted by the Drug Inspectors under the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules, 1945 have been declared not of standard quality by Government Analyst Combined Food and Drug Laboratory Jammu.

In this regard, the drug sample of Atzon-S (Cefoperazone and Salbactum Injection- 1 gm) by M/s Prosperity and Pharmaceuticals Baddi in District Solan Himachal Pradesh failed the test for clarity of solution and particulate matter and drug sample Oxy-100 (Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride Injection –Veterinary) by M/s VET India Pharmaceuticals Limited Electronic Complex, Kushaiguda, Hyderabad failed the pH test.

Following negative results, the DFCO has issued a public notice to discontinue the usage and the stop sale of these drugs. It was also sought that the dealers who are in possession of any stocks of these drugs shall inform the local Drug Authorities along with procurement details to help the department for effecting product recall.
