DFCO initiates action against Amar Singh Club, Spice Restaurant

JAMMU: Drugs and Food Control Organisation (DFCO) on Thursday conducted surprise inspection of Amar Singh Club and Spice Restaurant and found both food establishments serving unhygienic food which was found unfit for human consumption.
Acting on specific complaints, a team of Food Safety Officers under the supervision of Sanjeev Kumar, Assistant Controller Food (JMC) carried out surprise check of above said Food Business Operators.
During the visit it was found that catering services in Amar Singh Club are being executed by Sardar Chand.
On inspection of the kitchen, it was observed that tomato sauce being prepared by the said vendor is unfit for human consumption. At the time of inspection, approximately 50 kgs of rotten and perished tomatoes were found being processed for preparing chutney/sauce.
Also, the refrigerator provided in the kitchen was found packed with finger chips and red meat emanating foul smell and therefore unfit for human consumption.
The stocks of these food items were destroyed on the spot.
During inspection of Spice Restaurant, it was found that huge stocks of food articles viz milk powder, sauce, white sauce, and mayonnaise sauce meant for serving to the consumers in the restaurant were found stocked in improper conditions and rodent faecal was also found in the stocks.
A Challan for unhygienic and insanitary conditions shall be filed against these vendors before the competent court in due course of time.
