Devika Baisakhi Mela concludes; over 1 lakh devotees visit

UDHAMPUR: Over 1 lakh visitors participated in the three day Historic Devika Baisakhi Mela at Udhampur.
MLA Udhampur, Pawan Kumar Gupta was the Chief Guest on the concluded day of the Historic Devika Mela. Pawan Gupta lauded the efforts of the organizers in reaching out to rural people and devotes through the powerful medium of art, culture & folk. He called upon youth, civil society and other stake holders to come forward for cleanliness of holy river devika and its surroundings.
Gupta expressed special thanks to District Administration and BLSKS for undertaking innovating concept of composing of Devika Maiya Arti. He also administered pledge of Swatch Bharat (cleanliness) on the occasion to the people.
District Administration Udhampur had organised a Mega Cultural Programme in collaboration with Department of Information and Public Relations Udhampur and Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan, Jammu based on rich folk culture besides artists also created awareness among the people regarding Beti Bachaoo Beti Padhao and discourage open defecation.
The district administration had also made adequate arrangements of barricading, security, sanitation, first-aid, drinking water and power supply in the mela.
Chairman Devika Baisakhi Mela Management Committee, Romesh Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Chander Parkash, Managing Director, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan, Jammu, V.K Magotra, Chairman Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan, Jammu, M.L Dogra, Representative District Information Centre, Senior officers of various departments, Members of Mela Committee and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
