Development where…

It looks once again Bharatiya Janata Party is riding over the false crescent with singing the tune of development. It appears the party has forgotten the fiasco of ‘India Shining’ during Atal Behari Vajpayee tenure and went for early elections riding the shining wave and lost to Congress. Though this time there is no such parliamentary election which party has to lose but singing of the development tune looks too early to measure the progress made in the two years since 2014. No party in rule has ever undermined its progress and development and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim on the progress made is also not new in the game of politics. It is not that India is facing the development for the first time during the tenure of BJP. Had it been the case yes, it deserves praise and publicity. But in reality the case is different. One cannot negate the contributions made by other political parties during the last 60 years to make today’s India progressing. So is the case one cannot negate the contributions made by individuals like Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and P V Narasimha Rao and their vision to keep the country going further. Today the Centre-State relations are on the weakest keel. Most of the non-BJP ruled states have complained of step-motherly treatment. Uttarakhand saw an awkward and embarrassing situation for the party, where democratically elected government was made to step down and it is the Court which restored its legitimacy. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has complained about the Centre’s step-motherly treatment, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been complaining about Centre yet to fulfill assurance made to the state. Maharashtra hasn’t been given adequate financial assistance by the Centre to tackle drought. The Prime Minister has said that as many as 7,000 villages across the country were given electricity within 300 days… India is fast changing, India is marching ahead and everyone is happy about it. However, the separatists in Jammu and Kashmir have warned that they wouldn’t allow Kashmiri Pandits to step into the Kashmir Valley. Today BJP has become a personality-centred party revolving around Modi only rest all follow him blindly. One has to come out of this dogma of personality-centred party to carry forward development which is a continuous process and not of few years’ contribution.
