Mahadeep Singh Jamwal
Every day we come across with so many messages, quotations and comments posted on social media by its users and maximum of them find space on Face Book and WhatApp. The casual users of this application generally, as is observed, skip many such useful postings, which if brought to public domain can soothe many of our misconceptions and can alter our opinion channelised by the regular efforts of vested interests of their particular ideologies to target particular section of the society. Generally we stick to postings of fair sex posing themselves in different postures and nude wearing and asking for comments. Many of us with a large chunk of teenagers, irresponsible, not so educated and un-cultured people, don’t waste a single second to respond them by our un-cultured comments and forget the sanctity to be maintained about a matter going to be put in public domain. Very few learned users make best use of the valuable postings and comments of intellectuals to address various issues of the society in a positive way, posted on social media, which is easily available and approachable to both authors as well as viewers, without involving much cost factor. A serious thought is required as how these best postings on the social media can be put to vast public domain scattered to far flung area, as a ‘awaken and aware’ tool for maximum use to accrue its benefits by the society and common mass, who are not in a position to reach out this tool of information as well as of knowledge, in advancing stages of digitalisation being ignorant of operating procedures, facilitation of Internet services, financial implications of purchasing Android version of the operating phone and power.. I believe the print media is the only option having its reach to last corner of the country by registering their entry in almost every government office, business house as well as in individual house.
Some of the postings received on my groups “We for You” and “Being Human” created on WhatApp deserve to be shared with the common man and with those terming themselves as nationalist. Their relevancy also becomes more important when commented upon by secular minded people. Some of such postings are referred here; From Sajad Raja hailing from PoK and live in England and claim as former President JKNAP UK, his remarks while I accepted his friend request also deserve mention here; “Thanks for accepting my friendship request. I am from Pakistani occupied Jammu and live in England. I just wish to reunite with my mainland Jammu, so I love everything that carries Jammu title. My village in POJK is about 5 miles from LoC; the main town on your side of LoC is Noshehra” In a posting mentioned on FB on 3rd July he comments that; “Violence in Jammu and Kashmir at all levels must stop now. We condemn the state brutality against innocent civilians and peaceful demonstrators but at the same time we condemn all acts of violence being carried out with help from foreign forces. This is simply terrorism and must not be tolerated. This terrorism has disrupted the civil life and destroyed the social fabric of Jammu and Kashmir. This terrorism is also crime against humanity. People of Jammu and Kashmir must shun all acts of violence and should enter into a meaningful dialogue with their own government, that’s only way forward. We oppose all sorts of violence, acts of terrorism, armed activities and foreign interference in Jammu and Kashmir and demand to halt it immediately. All conflicts must be settled through mutual dialogue, democratic process and peaceful way”.
Some postings from Wasim Qazi, an Indian presently in Dubai goes as under: “If you are Muslim and suddenly start feeling unsafe in country where you lived for more than 30 years, if you are ‘Dalit’ and suddenly start feeling insulted on every moment of life, If you are Hindu and suddenly start feeling that cows are being slaughtered everywhere, you can do one thing, stay away from social media for few days, don’t watch news, don’t read newspapers and you find these things exist only in above three modes of information i.e. social media, electronic and print media. We are Indians and we have been inspirational for the world for centuries. We have set a unique example in this world for our unity in diversity. Let us maintain it”.
“Is our nationalism is based only on how much we hate Pakistan. Sharing pictures on social media is all we consider nationalism. It is much more than sitting in living room hating Pakistan and much more than commenting and sharing photos of our soldiers on social media. Are we not making it too easy to be nationalist? Look around we have farmers who are dying, girls not feeling safe, elderly people not taken care of, poor are suppressed, youth is unemployed, we are living in unclean cities … Be real nationalist.. Make difference”.
“I lived in a pre-social media time. In those days too our brave soldiers protected us like they do now. But I have never seen them subject to such a huge public scrutiny. Never before military operations are discussed in such a vast extent by people who are irrelevant or rather naïve in this field. Army doesn’t need our words to justify what they do. I have always been fan of our army men. Be in their discipline, their order, their bravery and the secrecy they maintain. We must not interrogate them on media. Let us not share hateful, unconfirmed and fake messages of pseudo nationalism sitting in air conditioned living rooms which does not make any positive impact about our great nation”.
The unholy alliance of the BJP and PDP is also under scanner of Valleyities and how popular CM Mehbooba Mufti in Valley can well be arrived at by remarks posted by Dr. Manzoor Ahmed Mir (Assistant Professor at University of Kashmir) as;
o Tale of two CMs. Dead v/s Live Conscience. Morally conscious Anandibhen resigned from the post just because of Dalit protest but ours morally corrupt with dead conscious will not do it even after killing 60+, blinding 1000+, maiming 3000+ and disabling countless.
o Government establishments in Kashmir have been reduced to miniscule and pushed to wall. Government officers, MLAs, mainstream politicians drive on roads like thieves only from 12.30 AM and 5.30 AM or by helicopters during daytime.
o Short term memory loss and live example of highest level of hypocrisy is our CM, who used to support soft separatism and healing touch but now completely towing the RSS Nagpur line. She has become mouth piece of RSS in Kashmir. Surely this lady is talented enough to put even a chameleon to shame.
Some beautiful points deserve mention in the write up posted by Jagroop Singh from Samba on WhatApp group “Bing Human” is as:
o In a year you can make fifty friends but the greatness lies to carry even one friend for fifty years.
o The words carry hypnotic power. A person with bitter language fails to even sell ‘Honey’ on discount, but person with sweet and sober words succeed even to sell out ‘Chilies’ on higher rate.
o Great happiness lies in achieving the task which others say, you cannot do it.
o To achieve success do like it, that people instead of searching your name on Face Book should scroll on Google.
o The cheapest available thing in the world is ‘advice’ ask from one, thousands will come forward, but none will come for co-operation, you may ask it from thousands.
o When there are five mouths to in-take and only four lobes of bread are there, then one speaking of no appetite will be the mother only.
o When people start imitating you that means you have attained success in your life.
o To a currency note that ‘you are just a piece of paper’ only, the currency note smilingly replied, yes but I have never seen the face of dustbin. A beautiful message written outside a temple and sent by Jagroop Singh, from Samba goes as; “Extending one hand to help somebody has more value, than joining two hands for prayer”. Concluding, remember that we don’t talk about trees getting older; we say they are “Growing” – Let’s use the same term for ourselves: We’re not getting older, we’re just Growing! That’s the spirit of life, which is not a music player to listen our favorite songs but should be like a radio to adjust our self to every frequency and enjoy whatever comes on it.
