AKHNOOR: Various deputations from erstwhile Akhnoor Constituency met Senior Vice President JKPCC and former Minister Congress Sham Lal Sharma and expressed their grievances regarding acquisition of land by Army for firing range under SRO 462. They submitted that their houses were near the proposed firing range and concerned authorities are not permitting them to undertake any construction or renovation. They appealed to the Sham Lal for taking up the issues with the authorities for an early redressal.
Sham Lal sharma gave them a patient hearing and assured them of taking up the issue with the concerned authorities.
Sharma said that the present BJP-PDP Government is doing injustice with the people of Jammu region. “In a similar case the Tosha Maidan which was used by Army earlier has been de-notified and the place is being converted into a tourist spot. The firing range in Jammu region is not de-notified and as a result the inhabitants of these places are facing numerous problems”, he said and added that in case the matter is not resolved immediately, the people will left with no other option but to start an agitation. Those who led the deputation were Sarpanch Kuldeep Raj Sharma, Madan Lal Panch, Om Prakash, Darshan Lal, Ajit Singh, Sanjay Kumar and Balkar Singh.
