DODA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)-Doda, under the guidance of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-J on Monday demonstrated poly-lining of fish pond in Bhala Tehshil of the district with the aim to store rainwater or runoff water for multipurpose including fisheries, and to attract more farmers towards fisheries business at least by starting back-yard ponds. The programme was attended by the farmers, farm women and rural youth.
Dr. Ghanshyam N Jha, Scientist fisheries briefed the participants that in spite of the existing potential of fish production, the present status of fish production in the district Doda is very low and divulged about tremendous scope of boosting fish production and farmers’ income many fold.
Farmers, namely Vipin Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, Lucky Kumar, Froz Din, Chain Singh, Dimpal Devi, Ravi Kumar, Beeta Devi, Sharda Devi, Nirmala Devi, Banta Devi, Garib Chand, Sudesh Kumar and others. showed their keen interest in the technological intervention of water storage made by KVK-Doda.
