Demanding revocation of SRO-105, stone crusher owners stage protest

STATE TIMES NEWS
SRINAGAR: To mark their protest against anti industrial policies of Jammu and Kashmir government, Stone Crusher Association (SCA) on Wednesday staged a massive protest in Srinagar on the eve of opening day of 2016 budget session and demanded immediate scrapping of SRO-105 issued during Governor’s Rule on March 31, which imposes blanket ban on any sort of mining.
Over 200 activists of SCA led by Ch Charan Singh assembled at Partap Park and raised anti-government slogans.
Speaking on the occasion, Charan Singh said that government tried to nurture mine mafia in the State by issuing SRO-105 , which barred the poor stone crusher owners to participate in the auction because none of them have 2 crore annual return.
Elaborating further, he said that according to this SRO a blanket ban is imposed on any sort of mining from anywhere which has brought the Stone Crusher Industry to a standstill and provided ample scope to mine mafia for taking over the industry like in other parts of country.
“This SRO has left many people jobless and their families are facing manifold hardships”, he added.
He urged Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Industries and Commerce to intervene and direct concerned authorities to immediately revoke this anti industry SRO.
Raj Paray, Arshad Mir, Wasim, Gian Sharma, Vijay Sharma and Arun Sharma were also present.
