KATRA: Wrestler Deepak Kakran of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi lifted 46th annual Muttal Dangal title by defeating wrestler Babba of Kot Bhawal Jammu, Akhara Domana in the main bout that lasted for 27 minutes at village Muttal in Tehsil and District Udhampur.
The Wrestling event (Dangal) was organised by Muttal Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Sarpanch Makhan Lal (President), Channay Ram (Chairman), Chuni Lal (Vice Chairman) and Naib Sarpanch Sukhdev Singh (Vice-President).
Swarn Singh Rathore, prominent wrestling promoter and Vice President BJP Udhampur District was the Chief Guest on the occasion who gave away cash prizes to the winner and runner-up wrestlers.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association presided over the function.
Parvez, hero of Dogri film Mouj Masti, Hans Raj, President Apni Party Udhampur District, Ram Parshotam, President NC Udhampur District, Contractor Karnail Singh, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and Rajinder Kumar Ramotra were the Guests of Honour.
The winner of main bout wrestler Deepak Kakran was awarded with cash prize of Rs 31,000 while runner-up wrestler Babba was awarded with cash prize of Rs 20,000.
Prize money for the first bout Rs. 51,000 was given by Chief Guest, Swarn Singh Rathore to the organizers.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, President Senior Citizens Welfare Forum Katra ( Regd.) honoured prominent social activist Gandarb Chand, age 74 years of village Muttal by presenting him Mata Ki Chunari and turban.
The second main bout was won by wrestler Ajay Sharma of Udhampur who defeated wrestler Abhishek of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi, another second bout was won by wrestler Rashid of Domana Akhara who defeated wrestler Sonu of Patti and third bout was won by Wrestler Bablu of J&K Police who defeated wrestler Zakker of Lallian.
Members of organizing Committee who helped in smooth conduct of Dangal were Makhan Lal (President), Channay Ram (Chairman), Chuni Lal (Vice Chairman), Sukhdev Singh (Vice-President), Rakesh Kumar (Cashier), Vijay Kumar (Panch), Mast Ram, Gulam Mohd (Panch), Darshan Singh (Panch), Sham Lal (Panch), Yusuf Din and Om Parkash Verma.
In total, 47 bouts were played and decided in the one day long Dangal and an expenditure of Rs 1,75,000 has been incurred for the conduct of this Dangal.
Proceedings of the Dangal were conducted by Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Channay Ram (Retired ZEO) and Rajinder Kumar Ramotra.
