LEH: Students from Leh, who have to get their class 10th or class 12th results verified from the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (BOSE), have to go through a long trauma as the process takes months and in some cases even more than one year as they are routed through Jammu and Kashmir Office Jammu.
This is happening due to the Jammu and Kashmir BOSE Sub Office in Leh is not authorised to issue verification certificates and therefore applications have to be routed through the Board Office Jammu which literally seems to serve nothing but to add one more hurdle to the bureaucratic machinery that eventually cause delays and huge inconveniences. However, Board Sub Office Leh seems to have played a proactive role in facilitating applicants to compile their applications and direct them to Jammu and follow them up.
Sources confirmed on Tuesday that records of class 10th and 12th are available with BOSE Sub Leh Office, Leh, in complete form and sometimes applications sent to Jammu are returned to Leh Office for verification when records are not found in Jammu. Frequently verification of marks cards are required for persons on being appointed in the Police Department and in Ladakh Scouts, sources said. Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers need verification of their marks cards on being regularised as General Line Teachers on the completion of their five years services. Many cases are pending due to delays being caused in the verification processes.
If such powers are decentralised and persons from Leh can get their verification in Leh itself, it will reduce a huge inconvenience for hundreds of people. Observers believe that empowering BOSE Office in Ladakh itself will do away with lots of unnecessary procedures as Sub Office Leh can issue such certificates within a day provided all formalities such as prerequisite professing fee in the form of demand draft are submitted J and K Board.
