Delay in construction of bridge; people stage protest

STATE TIMES NEWS
POONCH: Residents of Ghagwar, Maldiana, Malti and Dalan villages on Monday staged a protest here at Purani Poonch against delay in reconstruction of Dalan bridge which was damaged in floods.
The irate mob also blocked the road for about one and half hours affecting the traffic movement especially the Rawlakote Bus Service.
Raising slogans against authorities, the residents said that aforesaid bridge was the only link between Poonch City and these villages having approximate population of 10,000 souls. Sayeed Mohammad Numberdar Dalan said that students hailing from these villages have to cross river to attend classes at High School Degwar.
The protesting villagers alleged that despite granting the contract for the aforesaid bridge to the son of a local political leader about six months back, nothing concrete is visible on ground and the people are subjected to continuous vulnerability while crossing the river against boisterous water current.
Later, SHO Jatinder Raina pacified the enraged villagers and cleared the stranded vehicles.
Villagers Wali Mohammad Panch, Manzur Hussain, Mohammad Sharief and others were also present.
