DDMA Doda takes stock of rain damages

DODA: To assess the damages caused by the incessant rains and subsequent floods and to take review stock and supply position of essential commodities, a meeting of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Doda was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Doda Shyam Vinod Meena.
In the meeting it was revealed by Tehsil Supply Officer Doda, that sufficient stock of Rice, Flour, Sugar, K-Oil and LPG is available in the District except in some areas of Thathri, Bhaderwah, Bhatyas/ Chilli where there is shortage of Flour, Rice and Sugar. It was also informed that a Truck carrying LPG cylinders for supply to the District Doda is struck at Sidhra Jammu due to road blockade at various places.
Regarding supply of drinking water in the District, the house was informed by PHE Department Doda that the drinking water supply to the Doda town and adjoining areas will be restored within one day, whereas the supply of water in rural areas will also be ensured in shortest possible time.
The DDC directed XEN R&B Doda to restore all the roads within the district so that supply of essential commodities and movement of people who are stranded at different places due to rains, could be ensured.
The stock of the Life saving drugs and other health care subsidiaries are sufficient in the District as informed by CMO Doda. DDC instructed CMO Doda to utilise the accommodation facility of nearby Government Schools, in case the patients admitted to the hospital increases more than its carrying capacity.
All the departments were directed to conduct a survey of damages of public and private property under their respective jurisdictions and submit a report by tomorrowfor submission to the higher authorities for assessing the damages could be ensured. It was also informed to the house that 540 tents including Small, Medium and Large Tents are available at the District Headquarter. The DDC directed ADC Doda to ensure the rational distribution of tents among different areas of the District as per requirement for further distribution among the affected families.
The DDC also directed Power Development Department Doda to restore the Electricity supply to the affected areas where damages have occurred due to incessant rains.
The DDC appreciated the efforts of District Police with regard to keep people updated about weather forecast and road conditions. He also appreciated police for timely rescue, relief and evacuation of affected people.
SSP Doda M.S Chouhan, ADC Doda Imam Din, ACR Doda S.C Dogra, CPO Doda Y.S Katoch, DSEO Doda Dr. Yassir Balwan, XENs PHE, PDD, PWD and Irrigation and Flood Control Doda besides other District and Sector Officers attended the meeting.
