RAMBAN: District Development Commissioner Ramban Farooq Shah Bukhari on Tuesday convened a meeting with the officers of various line departments, police, army, BRO and the representatives of executing agencies to review disaster preparedness in view of winter season.
Discussions regarding road blockage, snow clearance, power and water supply, providing shelter and other facilities to the stranded passengers and maintenance of NH1A at two crucial points at Patnitop and Banihal Pass were held in the meeting.
BRO authorities apprised the meeting that the agency is looking after the maintenance of NH1A at two stretches, one from Udhampur to Chenani and another from Nashri to Banihal. It was informed that in case of any unprecedented event of snow storm and the consequent landslides on these two stretches of NH1A all the machinery has been put in place in advance. Similarly the dozers have been kept in place on Ramban Gool road for meeting out any situation in case of landslides.
AD CAPD informed that the district has five dumping stations at Mahu, Mangit, Neel, Sangaldan and Gool and ration at all the five stations has been stored for catering to the needs of the people of these areas during winter season. DDC directed AD CAPD to chalk out a plan for storing ration for far flung areas of Bibrota and Chakakundi areas of Ramban.
Similarly arrangements with respect to water, power, health and issues related to the municipalities were reviewed thoroughly and the concerned officers of these departments assured the DDC that all the arrangements have been put in place keeping in view the winter season.
