POONCH: District Development Commissioner Poonch Mohammad Aijaz Asad took stock of ongoing work on Parnai Project during his visit to the project, held meeting with concerned officers, met displaced families and also passed necessary directions for expediting the work for timely completion of the project. Rs 473.32 Cr Hydro-Electric Project is first of its kind in the district with 9.2 KM head race tunnel and is bound to generate 37.5 MW of electricity besides assured irrigation in Mendhar Sub-Division from the tail water. In the meeting at Draba campus of the Project the DDC was informed that the 92 per cent mobilisation work at site, 92 per cent of surveying and investigation, 65 per cent of detailed drawing and engineering, 100 per cent of up-gradation of road, 70 per cent of road construction, 60 per cent of stage 1 barrage and 100 per cent of stage 1 of coffer dam for river diversion has been completed.
Issues of rehabilitation of the displaced families, land issues at Bhattadurian, court cases and other major bottlenecks at Draba and Mastandhara which are hindering the speedy execution of the projects were also discussed in great detail in the meeting.
DDC while speaking in the meeting said the administration is working on rehabilitation plan for displaced families which will be finalised shortly. He also assured of resolving land issues beside filing of replies in court cases so that prestigious project is completed within stipulated time. Present in the meeting were CE Parnei Project, GM Patel; XEn PDC and other concerned officials.
